Career Services

At first glance, careers in the visual arts may appear limited, but in fact they are numerous and varied. The definitions of art and design are ever expanding, and the boundaries between media and disciplines have diminished. Employers list 'creativity' as one of the single most important aspects of a good employee, and MIAD graduates are creative to the core.

The Career Services staff assists students/graduates with their professional development as artists and designers. The services include exploring skills and interests, career planning, occupational decision making, the transition from education to work, job search training, internships, and employment opportunities. Click Career Resources on the right to learn about specific services and information offered.

Career Services also coordinates on-campus employment. This includes Federal Work Study (FWS), a need-based form of financial aid. Students may work in many of MIAD's departments, labs, and offices. Click On-Campus Jobs on the right to learn more.

The staff in the Career Services Office advises students/graduates individually and in group and class settings. Click Career Services Staff on the right for contact information.

Students who make contact with and use the resources of the Career Services Office will find information to help them make realistic and personally satisfying decisions about their professional futures. This process should start their FIRST year at MIAD.
