Presentations on Food Waste Challenges + Solutions
December 7, 2023 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm
MIAD Student Union
Please join us as a small but mighty cohort of MIAD students will present their final course projects and share their ideas about how best to address issues of prevention, recovery / rescue, and recycling / reuse.
For the past fifteen weeks, this group has focused on innovative solutions that impact every sector of the food system–from production and manufacturing–to retail, foodservice, and restaurants–to right inside our homes–and, they've tackled issues of policy and fund allocation along the way.
Each of these students has also leveraged the work they're doing in their majors to include points of impact for art and design–and they've created some really incredible projects.
During this open session, you can expect to hear from an engaged group of powerful thinkers, makers, and builders as they share their research and unveil their prototypes in a series of high-impact 5-minute pitches. After which, we'd ask that you join us for a casual, open-forum, large-group idea-sharing session as we explore ways that we can continue to partner on positive solutions for our community.
We'll also be able to share some exciting information about an upcoming grant we're applying for with ReFED and tell you about some of the other projects we've worked on with a variety of people and organizations around the world–from community food centers in MKE to zero waste restaurateurs in Bali to dayboat scallop fisheries in Maine.
Again, we'd love for you to be a part of this experience–and hope you can join us!
