MIAD’s Sewing Lab is a textiles based workspace open to students in all disciplines. Located in the sunlit room 250-B of the Jane Pettit Bradley building, the lab has six table-top sewing machines, two industrial sewing machines, cutting tables, layout tools, basic hand-sewing kits, leather working tools, a grommet machine, an ironing station, and donated materials for samples and investigation.
The lab is monitored and maintained by the Sewing Lab Technician and knowledgeable student workers. Curriculum based sewing, such as the Sophomore Industrial Design Backpack project, and student driven projects are accomplished in the space designed for technical skill building, conceptual advancement and exploratory research.
