"David and I are privileged to chair MIAD's 2014 Creative Fusion. Art and design play a tremendous role in innovation, which is fundamental in the 21st century's global economy. MIAD's unique place at the intersection of art, design and technology is important for the college's students and our community. We are inspired by MIAD's students, and the creative energy they show in their work, and by MIAD's passionate faculty, whose hands-on approach enables graduates to engage with the world and strengthen our community. We look forward to an unforgettable evening in the heart of MIAD's creative studios!"

Value: $5,000 - $8,000

Chance may be the sworn enemy of premeditation, but therein lies an opportunity for improvisation - one of the most important tools for appreciating the world outside of our intentional plans. "Noblesse" can at once be a sedentary landscape cloaked in blackness and a portrait of preemption's failures - opportune chance rimmed in light. If favored by probability, a grasshopper may land on one's nose becoming an active participant.

Woodcut Portrait Commission
50" x 28"

Value: Priceless

Commission Darcy Guenterberg, a current MIAD junior majoring in Illustration, to do an individual black and white portrait of your favorite person or yourself. She will use the techniques of woodcut to capture the likeness and characteristics of the subject, as can be seen in this portrait of a MIAD staff member. Commission will need to be arranged before May 2015; maximum size 50" x 28."

Sustainably Harvested,
Formaldehyde-Free Birch
Plywood, Manila Rope
variable height x 56" x 26"

Value: $4,000 - $6,000

By modernizing the typical porch swing, this sculptural piece of furniture provokes a new way of thinking - giving users the ability to create a narrative in the "swing space." Created by Interior Architecture + Design major Ellie Cupp, it provides two people a visual and physical connection to each other and a whole-system experience.
