The Third Annual Juried Foundations Exhibition opened with an awards ceremony March 4 attended by the students, faculty and staff. The exhibition includes 93 works by 57 students selected from among 215 submissions.

Monetary awards went to:

  • First Place: Ashley Janke, for an animation submitted for Space, Form, Materials: Fine Arts
  • Second Place: Allison Taylor, for a drawing created in Observational Drawing
  • Third Place: Abby Malestycki, for a collage created in Visual Statement: Collage & Assemblage
  • Third Place: Elizabeth Rasper, for a book made in Visual Statement: Artist Books

Juror Christian Ricco, an educator and studio artist who has exhibited across the United States and in Europe, extended his congratulations to those exhibiting.

“The courage to stick your neck out is a very difficult component in the growth of an individual as an artist. I can assure you that five different jurors would have yielded five different results. Never be discouraged by the rejection; rather see it as an opportunity to ask questions of your work as it may relate to an audience. Continue to question your work, to keep your ideas fresh and current and to continually consider the character of your visual expression.”

The exhibition is held in memory of Professsor Ellen Vincent.
