MIAD Values Recognition Award: Lisa Floading

Lisa Floading, Coordinator of Tutoring Services, received the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) MIAD Values Recognition Award for November 2025. Lisa received nominations that highlighted her embodiment of MIAD’s Core Values, especially Innovation and Community.
The MIAD Values Recognition Award (VRA) celebrates faculty and staff who consistently model MIAD’s values of courage, integrity, kindness, community, innovation and inclusion. After employees nominate a colleague for the award, a committee made up of faculty, staff and previous VRA winners convenes to vote on the month’s recipient. Awardees receive a $250 prize.
“I feel like everyone here epitomizes MIAD values, so to be honored and to be spoken of so generously is really touching,” says Floading. “It makes me feel aware of the work that we do here and it feeds the empathy machine … It’s really inspiring to be around.”
“Lisa has had such a positive and transformative impact on the tutoring program here at MIAD, [creating] a powerhouse of community and involvement,” said one nominator. “Her systems and processes are intuitive, proactive and successful. Lisa deeply cares about our students and her work. We are fortunate to have her here at MIAD.”
“I am continually impressed with MIAD. It’s this feeling of support and a sense of growth that is incredibly refreshing to be around,” continues Floading. “I love learning, and that’s what I get to do every single day. It’s amazing being excited about what students are learning and being the guide on the side, the facilitator, is so gratifying … I love seeing students grow and thrive.”
