MIAD faculty designs for Brewers Wisconsin Artist Series

Faculty member Ric Stultz, who teaches Illustration at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, has designed what is sure to become iconic apparel during the Milwaukee Brewers 2026 season.

Tapped by the Brewers for the second Wisconsin Artist Series, the team’s press release said, “Stultz approached the project with a clear vision: celebrate one of the greatest Brewers of all time in a way that felt authentic to his artistic style.”

“Stultz chose the Wisconsin state bird, the Robin, outfitted in a classic Robin Yount jersey and era‑accurate cap, to create a design that blends subtle team heritage with unmistakable personality.”

“A few years ago, the marketing director for the Brewers saw my paintings hanging in Moda 3. He reached out to me, and we became friends on Instagram,” Stultz explains. “When the Brewers began working with local artists, I expressed interest and we started talking about possible projects; the game day hat was included in those conversations.

“I loved having the freedom to reimagine the Brewers logos, branding and color schemes. It was fun to look at their visual legacy and see how I could add to it. They were super easy to work with – the final hat image is one of four initial sketches I sent. The image was approved without revisions and went straight into production.”

The first 10,000 ticketed fans will receive the Yount hat at the Brewers game on Tuesday, August 18.

An artist and illustrator originally from Racine, Stultz’s work has been commissioned by such companies as Nike, MTV and Youtube, and his paintings have been exhibited domestically and abroad.
