Meet Michaela Prischman and 2026 Senior Exhibition Project Cloth
This is one in a series of online interviews with MIAD seniors, who share their thoughts about their 2026 Senior Exhibition project and their MIAD education.
Michaela Prischman ’26 (Communication Design) is a President’s (Honor) List student from Tinley Park, Ill.
What is your “elevator pitch” for your senior exhibition project?
As a young woman in the corporate world, I noticed that it was difficult for me to find clothes that were appropriate for work, while also fitting into my personal style. I dress in an alternative style, and I wear almost exclusively black clothing. I found that when I wore something colorful or something that was more in line with usual corporate attire, I was uncomfortable and struggled to focus on my work. As many as 91% of women find it difficult to find clothes for work, and as they find their own style, confidence and work performance seem to increase.

Forbes found that 96% of women feel more confident in their abilities when they’re also confident in their style. Moreover, 96% of those surveyed believe style is important for productivity, professionalism and leadership advancement. Cloth is a tool to help guide young professional women to finding and organizing their alternative work attire through a personalized style subscription box. It also provides an organizational system for the closet, allowing women to feel their best at work.

Anything you’d like to share about yourself or MIAD?
During my time at MIAD, I have made lifelong friends who understand the importance of creativity. I also feel lucky to have professors who pushed me to do my best work and always looked for opportunities for me to grow. Without their support, I would not have been able to work towards landing an internship my freshman year or getting a second one my sophomore year [at Baird]. As I transition into looking for my post-grad role, I know I can rely on my professors and friends to help me make the right decision.

MIAD elects new trustees Paul Fletcher and Jacqualyn Laughlin
Paul Fletcher, a principal product designer at LinkedIn, and Jacqualyn Laughlin, co-founder of Invisible Ink Partners, were elected members of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design’s Board of Trustees at the college’s annual meeting in June.
Double ASID award winner is inspired by nature and internships
Rising senior at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) Adam Wold ’27 received two awards in May from the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). The Interior Architecture and Design (IAD) major won the Silver Award in the Commercial category and the Bronze Award in the Residential category.
MIAD faculty, alumni shine at WI Visual Art Achievement Awards
Professor Leslie Fedorchuk and alumni of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) received four of the eight individual 2026 Wisconsin Visual Art Achievement Awards for “their significant contributions to the state’s creative culture.”
National Society of Illustrators honors 13 MIAD students
Works by 13 students and recent graduates of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) were selected from among 4,550 nationwide submissions to receive 2026 honors from the national Society of Illustrators.
Pallas Textiles competition provides real-world experience
First-place winner Sophia Simonson ’28 created Refractions as part of her MIAD studies in Interior Architecture and Design. She is one of 20 students studying at MIAD through a cross-registration program with Concordia University. MIAD students Kaitlyn Powers ’26 (Illustration) and Natalie Spetell ’27 (Product Design), both of whom have minors in Communication Design, received Honorable Mentions.
