The Tory Folliard Gallery-Milwaukee selected senior Painting major Jennifer Price the winner of the fifth annual "Gallery Project." The collaborative project aims to support emerging artists by providing the winning student with an insider’s look into the art business world.

Price will exhibit and sell her oil paintings, "Imaginary Playgrounds," at the Third Ward Gallery from April 16 – May 1. An Artist’s Reception will be held on Gallery Night, April 16, from 5 – 9 p.m.

Nicole Reid, gallery manager, and gallery owner Tory Folliard, conducted studio visits with five MIAD finalists before selecting Price.

"Each of the students presented a cohesive body of artworks and they were able to discuss their visions clearly and professionally. I felt that Jennifer’s work exhibited a nice balance of concept and insight compared with her overall aesthetic," said Reid.

Price said, "I am completely excited that I’ll be showing my new work at Tory Folliard Gallery. The paintings are so much a part of who I am, and I’m ready to exhibit them outside of MIAD. I think cake is always a good metaphor for art. You dedicate so much of yourself to building this delicious creation. In the end, it always tastes better when you share it with others."

The Tory Folliard Gallery is located at 233 N. Milwaukee St. Hours are Tues. – Friday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. More information is available at 414.273.7311 or www.toryfolliard.com.
