Helen / Hj (they/them) is a gardener, paddler, listener, reader, writer, artist and storyteller, among other identities. They use the arts (including social practice) and the sciences (including social science) as their mediums. Their PhD is in Interdisciplinary Arts and Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with certificates in Environmental History and History of Science from the Center for Culture, History and Environment (CHE), Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies. At MIAD they teach Service Learning and Writing, working with incredible students and community partners across various institutions and organizations with the intention of supporting our community, far beyond our classroom: https://bullardhelen.wixsite.com/storytellingmke. Outside of MIAD their work is often collaborative, working with artists, scientists, writers, political and critical thinkers, academic-creatives, and people of observant, parental and minority experience to consider topics including oceans and queerness.
