Emily Scheider Berens is an educator, designer, and multi-media artist living and working in Milwaukee, WI. Berens received her MFA in Interdisciplinary Media from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2013) and her MA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Columbia College Chicago (2011). Much of her work and research focuses around enmeshing traditional media with experimental digital processes, and observing the relationship between improvisation and play.

Berens has exhibited her work and run digital technology-driven workshops both regionally, at events sponsored by the Wisconsin Art Educator’s Association (WAEA) and the Peninsula School of Art, and internationally, at venues in Barcelona, Spain and Wuhan, China. She has also run her own freelance design practice for over 10 years, with clients spanning across the US and Canada.

Throughout these experiences, Emily looks to help artists discover new techniques for finding inspiration, remixing found materials, and finding accessible ways to incorporate digital media into their studio practice.
