David Lawson is a teacher and writer calling Milwaukee home. He attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, receiving a BA in ancient literature and an MA in education. Before joining MIAD, he worked as a high school teacher, project manager, campaign organizer, museum docent, and professional bicycle vagrant. At MIAD, he teaches writing and humanities courses, leading discussion-focused seminars with an emphasis on close reading. His areas of academic interest are demotic reading and writing practices.
 
In his spare time, he enjoys music, travel, and attending to his cats.
