Meet Eeshaan Dutt and 2026 Senior Exhibition Project Indra Supreme

Eeshan Dutt ‘26 (Illustration) is a President’s (Honor) List student from India and a recipient of a 2026 Alumni Thesis Award.
What is your “elevator pitch” for your senior exhibition project?
I created Indra Supreme, a hindu mythology comic exploring the story of Samudra Manthan because I want to introduce the story in a sequential art form so that it reaches a wider audience.
Anything you’d like to share about yourself or MIAD?
I’m an illustrator born and raised in India. My work centers on visual storytelling through sequential art, where I explore how narratives can engage and connect with audiences.

In a web previous story about international students at MIAD, Dutt shared the following:
“What sold me to come here was just the idea of being with a group of individuals that I could relate to…. I came to visit the campus only once before I finalized my decision, and when I saw what my life could be, the doors that this opportunity would be opening was something that I could just not pass.
“It was a big jump for me to come to a different country with a different culture than mine, and MIAD has been very accepting and made me feel included even though I felt like an outsider…. I am grateful for having an opportunity to try to fulfil my goals and aspirations here.”

Pallas Textiles competition provides real-world experience
First-place winner Sophia Simonson ’28 created Refractions as part of her MIAD studies in Interior Architecture and Design. She is one of 20 students studying at MIAD through a cross-registration program with Concordia University. MIAD students Kaitlyn Powers ’26 (Illustration) and Natalie Spetell ’27 (Product Design), both of whom have minors in Communication Design, received Honorable Mentions.

Meet Carmen Briones and 2026 Senior Exhibition Project Echo
Carmen Briones ‘26 (Product Design) is a President’s (Honor) List student from Cambria, Wis., president of the MIAD IDSA student chapter and an intern at SI Jacobson Manufacturing. Briones designed a device called “Echo” that removes ovarian cysts without surgery.
Poster designs boost professional skillsets, children’s nonprofit
Continuing an annual tradition begun in 2010 at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD), Illustration juniors worked with Cramer-Krasselt and Penfield Children’s Center to design posters for the center’s Annual Croquet Ball fundraiser.
MIAD Task Award: Alum pays it forward with generous mentoring
Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) alum Amy Cannestra ’06 (Communication Design) believes in giving back, in mentoring and in the supportive nature of the Milwaukee art and design community. By founding Task Creative and the MIAD Task Graduate Award, the incredibly busy creative exemplifies all three beliefs. The Task awardee, Ashley Osorio ’26 (Fine Art + New Studio Practice), will receive five consecutive days to use the Task Creative space for a project of their choosing this summer.
