steinberg-webGalleries in Milwaukee were filled with work from MIAD alumni for Gallery Night on Friday, July 27, from 5-9 p.m. and Gallery Day on Saturday, July 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Alumni showing included:

  • Jim Finnerty ’71 (Layton, Graphic Design), exhibiting at the Sadler Gallery, opening July 27 and running until September
  • Melissa Dorn Richards ’96 (Sculpture), showing at the studio of timothyj
  • Stacey Steinberg ’04 (Drawing), showing “house/body” at the Elaine Erickson Gallery, with a reception Gallery Day, July 28, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.
  • Shannon Wunderlich ’12 (Integrated Studio Arts) has curated “This American Life” for the Intercontinental’s Gallerie M, showcasing the work of: Abby Malestycki ’12, Jessi Schleis ’12, Katie Batten ’12 and Stephen Strupp ’12 (Integrated Studio Arts); Christian Sis ’12, Isabel Kent ’12, Rachel Sanders ’12, Samantha Joseph ’12 and Tegan Andrich ’12 (Drawing); Claire Smith ’12 (Sculpture) and Nate Pyper ’12 (Communiation Design).


Multiple exhibitions were also on view at MIAD, including:

  • 2012 Juried Senior Exhibition – Selected talented artists and designers show their work in the Frederick Layton Gallery. MIAD faculty chose 23 students’ work from the 2012 Senior Exhibition, representing MIAD’s 11 majors.
  • Pre-College MAJORS Exhibition – Works in a variety of fine arts and design media by students in the Pre-College Advanced MAJORS Program, with a reception on Gallery Day from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Brooks Stevens Gallery.
  • Because Racecar: Recent Work by Sean Weber – On view in the Entrance Gallery.
  • Know Thyself Presents: Voices of the Young – Photographic works by students from Ronald Reagan High School, on view in the East Gallery.
  • Furniture by MIAD Students: Designed & Built – On view in the River Level Gallery

MIAD also held an art sale to benefit the victims of the July 17 fire at 631 E. Center St. Click here for more information on the art sale.
