The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) is honored to welcome Jodi Eastberg, Ph.D., as Vice President of Academic Affairs, effective August 4.

Dr. Eastberg comes to MIAD from Alverno College, where she held numerous faculty and leadership positions over 20 years. Most recently, she served there as Dean of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies, overseeing programs that included Studio Art, Art Education, Art Therapy, Music and Business.

Among Dr. Eastberg’s many academic and community involvements, she is a trustee of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), vice president and trustee for the Layton Art Collection, Inc., and a board member of the Wisconsin Policy Forum. She holds her Ph.D. in History from Marquette University.

“Jodi is commended as a transformational leader with vision, heart and discipline,” says MIAD President Jeffrey Morin. “She brings to our college a deep understanding of academic life, a passion for fostering community impact and a strategic mindset that aligns with MIAD’s creative and inclusive mission.”

“Perhaps what interested me the most about this position, beyond its alignment with my own experiences and values, is the opportunity to work with an institution poised for transformation and growth. Art and design education could not be more important than it is today,” says Eastberg. “Creating space where faculty, students and staff can be creative and future-thinking about their work is the most joyful experience of my career.”

Eastberg was selected for the MIAD role following faculty, staff and board member participation in, and feedback on, an intensive search process and candidate presentations.
