
Laura Farahzad Mayer
Laura Farahzad Mayer is an artist, designer and educator with a multi-disciplinary approach to making. Laura earned her MFA and MA from the University of Iowa where she studied design as well as printmaking and a BFA from University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. She also completed a certificate from the Center for the Book. Laura worked professionally for Whole Foods Market in Chicago where she was recognized as graphic artist of the year. She is also a freelance designer and her favorite project is designing packaging for Bridgeport Coffee in Chicago.
Laura has taught courses in typography, communication design and printmaking, focusing on Risograph and Letterpress printing. She teaches workshops on a variety of topics including bookmaking, printmaking and handlettering and has taught at Hamilton Woodtype Museum and Art Lit Lab amongst others. Laura is a 2026 recipient of the Mary L. Nohl Fellowship.
