Milwaukee voted, and MIAD has been named Best Art Gallery (Non-Museum) in the Shepherd Express 2016 Best of Milwaukee Awards.
MIAD went up against RedLine Milwaukee, Tory Folliard Gallery and Walker’s Point Center for the Arts for the honor.
“The galleries at MIAD are great because not only do they showcase student and faculty work, they also bring in outside artists,” said Ethan Keister ’17.
He added, “They’re curated and managed by faculty and students, so there’s a lot of pride that goes into not just the work, but the curation as a whole.”
Sarah Sutterfield ’17 believes that the award is a testament to how important MIAD’s galleries are to the Milwaukee art community, and that they’re “integral to the inclusivity MIAD represents.”
As a student gallery worker, Sutterfield is “very proud to work on a crew with determined individuals, working as a cohesive team to make these exhibitions a reality.”
