Edith Hibbard, a longtime supporter of MIAD, passed away on September 29, 2022. She and her husband William Hibbard (1927-2020) established the Cookie Hibbard Scholarship in honor of their late daughter Mary Ellen “Cookie” Hibbard.

Douglas R. Ewart, an interdisciplinary artist from Minnesota whose work spans musical performance, instrument making, painting and teaching, was named the 2022 McKnight Foundation Distinguished Artist. Ewart is currently displaying work in MIAD’s “Then as Now: Woodland Pattern 1980-2022” gallery exhibition.
Larry “Murf” Murphy, Product Design adjunct professor at MIAD, has a unique way of thanking his cancer care team. Each year since 2018, on the anniversary of his surgery, Murf creates designs on lab coats for his doctors.
