“I love MIAD and the experiences that it’s given me so far. The sense of community and passionate leadership really does stand out to me as someone who transferred from a tech school. I’ve already made so many connections and have had opportunities that I never would have otherwise.”

Transfer Portfolio
Demonstrate your knowledge of college-level coursework through at least ten portfolio pieces that represent your skills, ambition and conceptual interests, especially coursework reflecting experience in a major field of study. Based on your portfolio, the transfer admissions counselor or faculty chair evaluates which studio courses will transfer to MIAD and determines your class standing.
Transcripts & Credit Policy
We’ll evaluate your application individually and will accept up to 48 studio credits and 36 critical studies credits from accredited institutions, as long as grade requirements are met. All students requesting transfer credit must submit official transcripts(s) from all colleges attended.
MIAD determines transfer credit eligibility and the level at which you will enter the college on an individual basis depending on the number of transferrable credits, visual knowledge demonstrated in your portfolio, and your academic record. MIAD only considers credits from classes in which a grade of C or better was awarded from a qualifying institution. At a minimum, you’ll complete your final 30 credits at MIAD to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the college.
Review commonly transferred Critical Studies and First-Year Experience Courses.
Articulation & Guides
MIAD has articulation agreements with a number of community colleges. Under the terms of these agreements, students are guaranteed transfer credits toward their first two years at MIAD provided they meet the minimum requirements of the agreement and present a portfolio for review of skill level.
MIAD greatly values its articulation partners and welcomes qualified students from these institutions.
