Milwaukee Art Museum partners with MIAD Lubar Innovation Center
For its annual celebration of art, flowers and spring, the Milwaukee Art Museum turned once again to the Lubar Innovation Center at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD). After six students provided campaign art to the museum for Art in Bloom, the work by Kate Kasper ’26 (Communication Design) was selected for its vibrant connection to the event’s vision.
“It was great to partner with the MIAD Lubar Innovation Center again and collaborate with the talented Kate Kasper on this year’s Art in Bloom campaign,” says Haven Falk, senior graphic designer at the museum. “From the outset, Kate connected with our vision, and her professionalism and creativity made it all the easier and more fun to bring it to life. Her design captured the abundance and vibrance of Art in Bloom, and we’re proud of all we achieved together.”

The Lubar Innovation Center worked with Kaitlyn Powers ’26 (Illustration), Bella Mikkelson ’26 (Illustration), Anna Hoffman ’26 (Illustration), Mac Bronnson ’26 (Communication Design) and Melody Frias ’26 (Illustration — Animation Track) to provide different concepts for the museum.
“Working with the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Innovation Center was an incredible experience,” says Kasper. “The museum was absolutely wonderful to work with, providing great feedback while I worked…. Seeing it all in-person during the Art in Bloom exhibit was surreal in the best way possible; it was mind-blowing to see my work all over such an important institution of the arts and the city of Milwaukee in general.”
“This isn’t the first project I’ve done with the Innovation Center,” adds Kasper, “and I dearly hope that it is not the last. Drew and Kyle, the directors, have always been amazing to work with and extremely dedicated to their students. In the past I’ve worked on murals, t-shirt designs and photo editing … for numerous clients in the Milwaukee area.
“I’m hoping to work this summer, building up my portfolio and enjoying the city’s summer events along the way. I have several interviews lined up with advertising agencies and printing companies in Milwaukee.”

Double ASID award winner is inspired by nature and internships
Rising senior at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) Adam Wold ’27 received two awards in May from the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). The Interior Architecture and Design (IAD) major won the Silver Award in the Commercial category and the Bronze Award in the Residential category.

National Society of Illustrators honors 13 MIAD students
Works by 13 students and recent graduates of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) were selected from among 4,550 nationwide submissions to receive 2026 honors from the national Society of Illustrators.
Pallas Textiles competition provides real-world experience
First-place winner Sophia Simonson ’28 created Refractions as part of her MIAD studies in Interior Architecture and Design. She is one of 20 students studying at MIAD through a cross-registration program with Concordia University. MIAD students Kaitlyn Powers ’26 (Illustration) and Natalie Spetell ’27 (Product Design), both of whom have minors in Communication Design, received Honorable Mentions.
