parentsAll MIAD parents and those who fulfill a parental role are invited to attend one of the college’s most meaningful and engaging traditions, Parent/Partner Day on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

The day provides an opportunity for MIAD to share how students’ educational experiences will inspire their careers and their lives, and to strengthen parents’ relationship with MIAD in the important role as students’ coaches and mentors. Each year, attendance grows among parents and partners, whether their student is beginning or continuing their MIAD education.

Last year’s event saw the highest attendance ever. This year promises even more excitement, because the program coincides with several other major events at the college – the Student/Alumni Art Sale and the Alumni Reunion Weekend. These events will broaden the opportunities for students and parents to engage with one another, and with alumni, who play a key role in the MIAD experience and whose career paths provide invaluable insights to students of all class years.

The day includes lunch; tours of area galleries; classes, demonstrations and panels led by members of the MIAD community and alumni; and a special reception with alumni. Parents will have a chance to view two new visual art and design exhibitions at MIAD that will contribute significantly to students’ and the community’s knowledge.

The MIAD Student/Alumni Art Sale, which runs October 20 – 22, will give parents an opportunity to see their students’ art and design works alongside those by established professionals. All students and alumni are eligible to participate in the sale, with proceeds benefitting the participants. The sale opens with a Preview Party Thursday, October 20, 6 – 9 p.m., and runs Friday night, 5 – 10 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., on MIAD’s fourth floor.

Below is the schedule for Parent/Partner Day. RSVP by e-mailing Ricky Heldt, Associate Director of Student Services, at
