Meet MIAD is a week of free, virtual programming including live panels, discussions and workshops with the MIAD Admissions team, faculty and alumni! High school juniors and seniors as well as transfer students are encouraged to register for as many parts of the program as possible. Join us for one session or all! We’re also offering a series of presentations and discussions for parents on Saturday.

All students who start their free online application at miad.edu/applynow during Meet MIAD week will be entered in a daily drawing for MIAD merch! See the full schedule below.

 

MONDAY, NOV 16: Apply to MIAD, Financial Aid & Portfolio Development

7PM You, Zines & Martian Press An introduction to the wonderful world of zines! Stephanie Lane Gage discusses her own discovery of zines and zine-making while attending MIAD and how that lead her to start an independent publishing press (Martian Press). Gage went on to exhibit at art book fairs around the world. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to make a simple cut-and-fold zine, and get an overview of zine history. Jaclyn Schwanke, a MIAD alumna, will show her visual story
development process starting with a story and
moving to blocking out the pages, spreads, cover and
dust jacket of the book. Come with a story you would
like to get started on if you can! If you don’t have a story, this session will still be very informative for when you do come up with a story. A google drive file with printable templates will be shared prior to the workshop for printing or drawing before the session.

We know parents are essential to the college process. We invite you to join us on Saturday, November 21 during Meet MIAD for a series of presentations and discussion on topics of interest to parents, including our campus, the application process and how COVID-19 has changed the way we educate and care for our community. 11:30AM Navigating the Admissions & Financial Aid Processes During COVID-19 Senior Admissions Counselors, Cari Dulan and Molly Noyes, will guide students and parents through the MIAD admissions process in the time of COVID-19. They will share the new methods MIAD’s Office of Admissions has introduced to connect with students in safe and meaningful ways.
