More than 200 parents and family members enjoyed Parent/Partner Day October 17, the largest turnout since the annual fall event began.
Interactive workshops led by faculty and staff engaged parents in the MIAD student experience. The demand for art and design skills in the 21st century; discussing art and design with students; how students become professionals; and the depth of written forms in MIAD’s curriculum were among the many sessions offered.
Jill and Chris Kinast of Beloit, who have attended Parent/Partner Day each of the four years their daughter has studied at MIAD, said, “We encourage all parents/partners to experience the energy within MIAD during an academic semester. We appreciate the opportunity to be within the MIAD environment, to meet other families, faculty and staff, and to better understand our student’s journey.”
Before culminating in a reception at Water Buffalo restaurant, parents and families also experienced the Bronze Pour in the Sculpture Lab, Alumni Artist Talks in the Reconnection exhibition and personalized gallery and student exhibition tours in the Third Ward.
