On May 9, MIAD 2015 Commencement saw more than 130 talented seniors celebrate their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with parents, families and friends at the historic Pabst Theater.
This year’s ceremony was filled with heartfelt speeches given in recognition of the hard work, talent and ambition that each of our graduating seniors demonstrated at MIAD. Here are a few snapshots from the day:
- “MIAD is a rare and beautiful community driven by a desire in faculty to challenge their students and make them the best possible artists and designers.” David Martin, Vice President of Academic Affairs
- “When I think of MIAD, I don’t think of an institution of higher learning. I don’t brag about the classes or facilities or the library. When I think of MIAD, I think of the friends and faculty whom I’ve met, and who have now developed into a new family for me.” Jasmine McMasters (Painting), Student Speaker
- “No matter how we will measure our successes in life, we will all attribute them in part to the fire that was lit here at MIAD. It’s the drive to be better, to make that weird thing you make, to live life without fear and to have some sort of lasting influence on the people around you. It’s the belief that anything is possible. The belief that your ideas, your work and who you are can and do have an impact on the world we live in.” Emily Ebert (Communication Design), Student Speaker
