Congratulations, MIAD Class of 2013!
MIAD 2013 Commencement saw 140 talented seniors celebrate their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with parents, families and friends May 11 at the historic Pabst Theater.
The following are excerpts from some of the ceremony’s speakers:
For me, my four years at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design has been like a dream. It starts with my amazing peers. From day one, I was blown away by the talent and passion you all possess. I was truly humbled to be learning alongside such thoughtful, creative souls, and every day you drove me to be better, to work harder.

As young creators, we start compelling conversations by constantly asking questions and pushing boundaries in our work. It’s both the most try and the most rewarding part of being an artist or designer. As we leave MIAD, we must challenge ourselves not to lose this momentum we’ve gained, or settle for anything less than our absolute best.

You have the ability to transform emotion, to transform how people experience art and design, and to transform material to embody the preciousness of beauty. This is one of the secrets you have learned.
John Caruso, Professor of Industrial Design
This past year has been a year of incredible leadership by you seniors. Never before have I had the privilege to observe so many students working together to challenge and support each other…. You have left your imprint on each other, on the faculty and staff, and now you prepare to make your imprint on the world.
