121 seniors participate in May 13 commencement

MIAD honored 111 seniors who completed their BFA degrees at its 2006 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 13, at the Milwaukee Public Library’s Centennial Hall. Ten additional seniors scheduled to receive their degrees in December 2006 also participated in the ceremony.

President Robert Rindler recognized 14 graduates as Presidential Scholars, based on their individual achievements of a GPA of 3.7 or higher. They were also honored at an inaugural Presidential Scholars’ Reception the evening before commencement. They are Benjamin Bowman, River J. Bullock, Anne M. Ferraro, Amanda Sue Gerken, Caleb Gossens, Lauren Christine Janka, E. Tucker Kobylski, Benjamin Lee Lowery, Erica J. Milde, Monchaya Ngaolertloy, Adam Gary Osgood, Marla Sanvick, Vaiva Senkute and Will Swensen. Forty-six seniors received Deans’ Honors.

Rindler delivered the Presidential Address (see above). Thomas Noffsinger was the faculty speaker and Jeremy Shamrowicz was the alumni speaker. Graduate speakers were design major Naoki Kato and fine arts major Benjamin Bowman. Board of Trustees Chair Claire Hackmann also addressed the graduates.
