MIAD’s Time Based Media Lab, planned for spring semester 2005 occupancy, is comprised of a variety of spaces, equipment, and software for realizing ideas in the fourth dimension–time and motion. The newly constructed lab contains a video post production studio and critique area, a tiered screening room for viewing work on the"big screen", and a Time Based Media Hub equipped for animation drawing and video and animation editing.
The Hub was designed to be the activity center for time based media. It is a centrally located, open space intended to encourage cross disciplinary collaboration, broad exploration and learning, and the integration of digital media into the careers of art and design. The collaborative philosophy will be further enhanced by the Hubs future video café, an informal area in which to gather, sip coffee, and view and discuss student, professional and historic work.
