The Residence Hall is a block from campus in the historic
Cawker Estate Building. Traditional out-of-area freshman students are required
to live in the Residence Hall so they can immerse themselves fully in their
studies and the MIAD community. The renovated turn-of-the-century building is
divided into single, double or triple room suites. The suites have 12-foot ceilings,
exposed cedar beams, carpeting, air-conditioning, a cable jack, bathroom and
shower, and a common area lounge with a view of the Third Ward. Individual rooms
include a loft-style bed that can be configured multiple ways, a dresser, drawing
board and stool, as well as a phone line with local service. The building itself
has 24-hour security, wireless Internet service, recreation areas, vending machines,
laundry and cooking facilities. A cafeteria with a full meal plan is available
in the main campus (vegetarians and those with special dietary needs are accommodated).
