CORE Explore Design!: Frequently Asked Questions

What is it?
Explore Design is a two-week summer program at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, and was created especially for students interested in fields related to architecture, interior architecture or product design.

What will I accomplish?

• Learn the technical and aesthetic principles necessary for skilled designing
• Develop an understanding of the latest technology
• Create a career awareness of the professional opportunities available in design fields
• Establish a college-readiness for design disciplines

Are there scholarships?

Merit Scholarships (Deadline April 15)
A limited number of partial merit scholarships are available based upon:

• Student's GPA—Most recent report card
• Student's Essay (1-2 pages typed, 12 pt font double-spaced)
• Essay Question: Describe why you would like to attend Explore Design, and what do you hope to learn?
• Teacher's Letter of Recommendation

Wisconsin DPI Scholarships (Deadline May 20)
The State of Wisconsin's Department of Public Instruction (DPI) offers scholarships to qualified Wisconsin students through the Pre-College Program. Students must have a 2.0 GPA in their core classes and be eligible for a reduced lunch program. Applicants must submit a complete DPI scholarship application package that includes current transcript, DPI Application Form and the Pre-College Registration Form.
DPI applicants are not required to submit a tuition deposit.
