Mona Zenkich “My whole life I always remember being encouraged by my parents and brother to draw, draw, draw. In grammar school, each new year would bring an art supply list and I reveled in filling it because it meant a brand new box of 64 crayolas with the built-in sharpener.” Mona Zenkich has gone a long way with those crayons. She graduated from MIAD with a degree in Interior Architecture + Design, has worked in residence and office design, and continued to draw, pursue photography, and design furniture. She now works as a product designer for Fossil. “I design products for various accounts such as DKNY, Armani, Paul Frank, Eddie Bauer, and Emporio Armani jewelry.” Zenkich even has a patent pending for a “moveable lug concept” which allows watches to “conform to any size wrist with ease.” Red Julius Design for Paul Frank As for future goals, “ultimately I want to own my own design firm that can offer clients all aspects of the design process from interior conception to implementation, especially furniture design, painting, wall placement, lighting, etc.” When asked how her MIAD education affected where she is today, Zenkich responded, “MIAD helped me to push myself towards my ultimate goal and seeing it within grasp. Even to this day, I am highly comfortable calling a MIAD professor and chatting about work and life in general; there is the confident sense that they care about how my career is progressing.” three-dimensional model for interior space, student work Resumé Highlights - Senior Industrial Designer, Fossil, Inc.
