Meet Alumni Council Officers

MIAD alumni represent the college's diverse successes

The MIAD Alumni Association, a community of MIAD/MSA/Layton Alumni, is poised for a year of renewed leadership and engagement. Its representative body, the Alumni Council, doubled its membership and spearheaded a fall 2006 reunion and second annual welcoming party for graduating seniors in spring 2007. In May, Alumni Association President Joe Hausch ‘84 passed the torch to newly elected officers.

Alumni, staff sculpture on view in Third Ward Sculpture Walk
Through November 15, sculptures by alumni Roy Staab, Steve Fischer and Richard Taylor, and Director of Galleries Mark Lawson, are on view in Artscape, the Third Ward's fourth annual outdoor sculpture exhibition. To view the sculptures online, visit www.historicthirdward.org.

Jack White
Jack White, former faculty member of the Layton School of Art and one of the seven co-founders of MIAD, passed away on August 10 in Tampa. Jack led MIAD and its predecessor institution, Milwaukee School of the Arts, first as Director and then as President, from 1975-83.

Jack's family, friends, faculty, staff and alumni shared memories and viewed some of his artwork, designs and photographs at a Memorial Service at MIAD on Thursday, November 8. Stories about Jack can be found at the MIAD Alumni web site, alumni.miad.edu.

More than 350 alumni, 2007 graduates and friends gathered at an After Party hosted by the MIAD Alumni Association, a community of MIAD, MSA and Layton Alumni.

Juliet Jaeger awarded Best in Show

2006 MIAD alum Juliet Jaeger (printmaking major; drawing minor) had three pieces from her senior thesis exhibition not only accepted to the juried 31st Bradley International Print and Drawing Exhibition but also awarded Best in Show.
