Visiting Lecturer: Gaylon White of Eastman Chemical

Gaylon White is the director of emerging markets for Eastman Chemical, the largest producer of PETG resin [ soda pop bottles]. Gaylon is instrumental in developing the Eastman Innovation lab website which documents innovative uses and applications of plastics and resins for the high quality and performance aspects desired by product development. [www.eastmaninnovationlab.com] Gaylon will speak on performance characteristics of a few resins and will discuss cellulosics bio based plastics derived from wood flour and capable of being imbued with a variety of designed scents radically changing the experience of an object. Eastman is the chemical side of Eastman -Kodak, separated many years ago but responsible for the film development and formulation {cellulose based film] hence their expertise in the area of bio based plastics. Rigid tools, Stanley and Craftsman tools all use Cellulosic, trade named "Tenite" in the handles of their tools, specifically screwdrivers and chisels for its impact resistance, its chemical resistance and its clarity.
