Barbara McLaughlinPrint

Dr. Barbara McLaughlin teaches Writing, Humanities, Irish and British literature and Service Learning at MIAD. A graduate of Marquette's graduate program in English, she has presented nationally on writing, literature, teaching practices and service learning. Currently, Professor McLaughlin's scholarship explores the role of story in culture and examines life writing in various forms, exploring the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary. McLaughlin was part of the development of the Service Learning Curriculum, participating through research, teaching and, currently, through service as Director. She also directed the recently completed Writing Program review and reinvention at MIAD. It is Dr. McLaughlin's belief that "to teach is to learn twice" and that the learning in her courses is reciprocal -- she learns as much from her students as they learn from her.
