Steve Horvath has been on the MIAD faculty since 1988. After earning a degree in Advertising Design, Steve spent 20 years in the advertising/design business, first as art director for Milwaukee advertising agencies, then as president /owner of his own design business. Steve has won numerous local, regional, and national awards for his design work, especially in the area of corporate identification. Steve has most recently completed a logo design for Ink, a specialty fine art digital printing business.

Over the past 20 years, his primary focus has been painting and drawing, which has always been part of his creative life. His pastoral and figurative work has been widely exhibited and is in many private and corporate collections here and abroad. Steve will be presenting some of his watercolor work in a group exhibition of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society at the Wausau Center for the Arts, 427 4th Street in Wausau, Wisconsin. You can view Steve's new work at the gallery from November 21, 2008 until January 4, 2009.

Recently, Steve was re-elected Vice President of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society at the organizations annual meeting in Cedarburg. Steve has served this statewide organization in various capacities over the past 20 plus years from Newsletter Editor to President. He is the chairperson for the exhibition referred to above and he is also organizing and overseeing the implementation of the organizations first web site.

In Summer 2006, Steve and two of his colleagues, Natanya Blanck and Debra Brehmer, MIAD Art History faculty, taught a class in Florence and the surrounding area of Tuscany through the MIAD International Program. The core of this course explored how the historic Florence connects, overlaps, and continues to influence contemporary Florence.
