McLaughlin is Dean of Liberal Studies at MIAD. She has presented numerous papers on teaching practices and on literary topics, including papers on Irish literature. She is currently completing a study of the work of contemporary Irish novelist Jennifer Johnston. Dr. McLaughlin earned her doctorate in English from Marquette University and her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
