Zoë DarlingPrint

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Zoë began her undergraduate studies in Philadelphia at Moore College of Art & Design, returning to Milwaukee to complete her B.F.A. in Printmaking at UWM. In 2000 the State University of New York at Purchase College, lured her back to the east coast, where she received her M.F.A. in 2003.

The human body has always been central to Zoë's work, although the unrelenting, daily regime of Juvenile Diabetes now influences much of what and how she creates. Recent pieces have been constructed from diabetic paraphernalia that she began accumulating while in New York. Personal daily rituals are used to draw attention to the repetitious narratives that make up everyone's daily lives. Printmaking, photography, drawing, sewing, and assemblage are some of the techniques used to create unique artist books and experimental constructions.

Having returned to Milwaukee after six years, Zoë is eager to play an active role in Milwaukee's art community. She is currently working on a memoir entitled Hurry Up, Relax (or how to start your life over) and getting the modest printmaking co-op, PushPullPress, underway.
