As a community-building project in the Interior Architecture + Design curriculum, 36 MIAD students began the Fall 2004 semester by designing, building, and sleeping overnight in cardboard shelters.

After pre-fabbing the shelters inside MIAD, the students set up their homes in Catalano Square, a small park across from MIAD's main building, and spent the night of Sept. 4 there.

This exhibition documents the entire process, featuring sketches, models, the occupancy permit from the City of Milwaukee and several of cardboard shelters themselves.
