This class is designed for the intermediate/advanced student who has a good sense of technique and needs a critical arena to consider his/her work. "Shoot, shoot, shoot," is the class motto. Class sessions will critique students' recent photos and will be concerned with how the photograph works (aesthetics and content). While technical assistance will be available, the focus of the course is to help each photographer critically consider and evaluate his/her imagery. Students may bring work prints from photo labs or their desktop printers. The class will also discuss the works of historical and contemporary photographers, including Harry Callahan, Alfred Stieglitz, Diane Arbus and Emmit Gowin. Through rigorous shooting and critical thinking about photography, this class will assist students in refining how they see the world. There is no darkroom time for this class. (class size limited to 12)
